RiverPlace Happenings on BCTV

 

RiverPlace Happenings is a new monthly, half-hour program on BCTV, hosted by County Commissioner Kevin Barnhardt and developed in conjunction with the staff, Board, and volunteers of RiverPlace.  The program regularly spotlights various locations of interest along the Schuylkill River, showcasing a growing variety of attractions, amenities and endeavors.

 In addition to being an educational resource to familiarize everyone with our amazing Riverfront area, this program also serves to highlight and praise the many volunteers, local governments, and partner organizations working together to make great things happen.  Programs include live on-location footage and studio interviews.  

The first program, in June 2008, focused on the Solar Flair Music and Arts Festival, with representatives of the GoggleWorks Center for the Arts, the West Reading Main Street organization, the Northeast Woodlands Alliance (Native American Heritage organization) and the Flair for Fitness initiative.

Topics of focus for the July 2008 program include the RACC Campus, the RACC Pedestrian Bridge over the Schuylkill, the newly installed solar-powered lighting along the Schuylkill River Trail, and plans to beautify Bertolet Landing.  

In future episodes, look for features on West Reading's Elm Street Program (The Ten Points neighborhood), Giannasca Development Group's RiverView at Reading project, tours of the GoggleWorks and GiggleWorks facilities, RiverFest, the new IMAX theater just one block from the river, and much, much more.
