Reading Area Firefighter's Museum

The Reading Area Firefighter's Museum is located at S. 5th and Laurel Streets. The building remains as a public display of the firefighter's history in the Reading Area.

The organization dates all the way back to 1854, when the Liberty Fire Company #5 was first created. The new firehouse was built in 1876, and has gone through a few renovations since that time. Today, the same building stands as the Reading Area Firefighter's Museum.

On Martin Luther King Jr. Day, volunteers from Kutztown University, under the leadership of RiverPlace on the Schuylkill, participated in a day of service dedicated to cleaning up the Firefighter's Museum.

The story was covered in the latest episode of RiverPlace Happenings.
