In late March 2007, the first brightly colored RiverPlace event banners appeared on the Penn Street Bridge, advertising the first annual Cherry Blossom Festival.

Currently, ten "RiverPlace" banners are in full view on the Penn Street Bridge.  These banners make the RiverPlace logo visible to the thousands of motorists and pedestrians that cross the Schuylkill River via the Penn Street Bridge on a daily basis.

This year and every year hereafter, brightly colored banners advertising the Solar Flair Music and Arts Festival will be raised again on the Penn Street Bridge. These 30" x 60" banners provide a graphic announcement of the festival, including the dates it will be held. The banners incorporate the same design elements consistent with the theme of the festival.

Although the Solar Flair banners are taken down following the end of each festival , the bridge will continue to host the RiverPlace logo banners. In the future, other RiverPlace events, including the annual 5K Run for the River, will be advertised alongside the logo.

A preliminary survey of additional bridges in the Reading area has been undertaken, including which of these bridges can accommodate banners.
