Wyomissing Creek Trail

Schematic Design: Wyomissing Creek Trail
Description:
Approximately 1,000 feet of asphalt trail will be constructed on land owned by the Wyomissing Valley Joint Sewer Authority along Old Wyomissing Road, located in the City of Reading. This section will connect the existing trail in the West Reading Playground to the Thun Trail section of the Schuylkill River Trail, creating a useful, scenic link among significant locations in the area, including the Wyomissing School District property, the Wyomissing Park, the Reading Public Museum, the Reading Hospital and Medical Center, and the Riverfront.
This section of the trail will provide a safe alternate route for students walking to either Southwest Middle School or Holy Name High School by way of the RACC bridge, avoiding the currently dangerous US 422/Lancaster Ave interchange sidewalk crossing.
“This project is consistent with Berks Vision 2020, the Berks County 1994 Open Space and Recreation Plan, the draft Berks County Greenway, Park, and Recreation Plan, and the Bicycle and Pedestrian Transportation Plan for Berks County. Linking the Wyomissing Creek Trail to the Schuylkill River Trail is a high priority project in all of these plans.” – Berks County Planning Commission
