When the River Breeze Blows

(This game is a variation, only in title, of a children’s theater game called “When the winter wind blows.” It is kind of like playing musical chairs.)

Materials Needed:

 *Chairs -One less than the number of players (If you do not feel like lugging chairs down to RiverPlace, some kind of marker such as sticks can be used as a substitute.)

 *A group of friends (At least 6 recommended)

 Directions:

- Arrange chairs or markers in a large circle.

- Give the kids plenty of room to move around.

- One person, the “River Breeze Blower,” stands in the center of the circle and yells “When the river breeze blows, it blows for…people with brown hair, people born in New Jersey, people wearing red, like funny movies, etc.”

 - Kids who match the characteristic being described, as well as the Breeze Blower “blow around in the breeze” and get into another spot or chair within the circle.

- One person should be left out of a spot, that person becomes the new “Breeze Blower,” and yells out the next characteristic.

Duck, Duck, Splash

This game is played just like Duck, Duck, Goose, except kids get to cool off with water while playing.

Materials Needed:

 * A Bucket

 * A Sponge

 * A Group of Friends

Directions:

*All kids sit in a circle, except for one who will be the “Splasher”

*The Splasher soaks the sponge in the bucket of water.

*The Splasher makes his way around the circle saying “Duck” while tapping the kids sitting in the circle on the head.

*The Splasher picks someone to chase him/her by wringing out the wet sponge over their head and yelling “Splash” instead of tapping them.

*The person who has been splashed chases the Splasher around the circle and tries to tag them before the Splasher can steal their seat.

*If the Splasher is tagged before he/she can make it back to the chaser’s seat, the Chaser becomes the new Splasher.
