Schuylkill River National Heritage Area Pennsylvania Heritage Corridor

Three and a half centuries ago, Dutch explorers named it the “Schuylkill” meaning the “hidden river.” It’s an equally exciting discovery today: a 128-mile river corridor rich with historical and natural treasures.

To make your own discoveries and experience the Schuylkill River Water Trail safely, the Schuylkill River Water Trail Guide and River Recreation Map set are available. The guide provides maps, travel tips and checklists to help you enjoy a safe, informed trip. Full color river maps provide detailed views of particular stretches of the river. Corresponding text pages list areas of caution, dams and points of interest. Best when used in tandem with the detailed Water Recreation River Map Set from the Delaware River Basin Commission (DRBC), which show river features and streamflow characteristics.
