Description: Born on 1898 in Georgia, USSR, Papashvily arrived in New York City in 1922. In 1935, he moved to Bucks County, PA, where he began co-authoring best selling books with his wife and carving animal shapes directly into stone without models or preliminary sketches. He receives numerous awards and exhibited across the United States. You wil rarely see his signature or monogram, since according to Papashvily, "The signature lies in the work of art itself and, with time, signatures and other identifying signs and symbols are of little consequence."
